This is a retelling of "Left Turn at Paradise" but from Beth's perspective. Great job of fleshing out Beth's story. I recommend reading "Left Turn" first. I found it delightful recognizing scenes from "Left Turn," but now seeing them through Beth's eyes. I found it interesting and engaging.Product details

The plot will take the reader on an emotional roller coaster, and the dialog is raw and honest. It is a reminder that what we say and do can greatly affect those in our life and that we should show them the greatest love and compassion too.
I loved this story which is packed full of emotions, regrets, heartache, feeling inadequate, unaccepted, self-loathing, bitterness, and seeking absolution. Beth McCarthy lived in her mother’s shadow and never felt she could live up to her standards. She is a beautiful young woman, with a knockout body, and based on rumors, easy. Not everything you see or hear is true, but over enough time, you decided to let those rumor live. The only person that seemed to see into the heart and soul of Beth was Colin, the love of her life. So many mistakes, so many immature decisions, so many words spoken in anger, letting what others think rule over love, leads to so much heartache and pain. Now thirty years later, medical issues and a lifetime of heartache will bring Beth home to Shellwater Key. Can the past be mended and forgiveness given? No matter how painful the journey home for everyone, will there be resolutions in the end?

A second chance for life, a second chance for family, and a second chance for … love?
Convinced she could never live up to her mother’s image or expectations, Beth stopped even trying. An unplanned pregnancy leads to Beth raising her newborn, Layla, alone, but when they narrowly escape an unhealthy and dangerous living situation, Beth finds herself leaving her precious baby on the doorstep of her childhood home, knowing her own mom could and would provide better for Layla than what she could do. Fast forward a few decades and Beth is determined to at least apologize and explain to both her mother and daughter why she did what she did. They don’t make it easy on her, but she knows she doesn’t deserve easy. A past love reappears in town and Beth knows she must make amends with him too, but can any of them really forgive, forget, and move on?
I very much enjoyed this book! There is a bit of everything including heartbreak, happiness, love, fear, mystery, suspense, regret, and hope – all in the perfect quantity and well blended. The focus on family and relationships in a real, sometimes painful way, helped to make this story so engaging I nearly read it through in one sitting. Highly recommended!

Love reading her books
Kristin has done it again. Made me put aside everything but her book and not stop till I finished it. Kristin is a very talented story teller keeping you spellbound until the end. I can't wait for next book.
This book appeared to be a carbon copy of "Left Turn at Paradise" It did have a few extra things about Beth, but with reading both stories back to back it was like I was reading the same book all over again.
Kristin Wallace’s books never fail to touch the heart, and this one is no exception. This amazing story is filled with unforgettable characters and the complex family relationships are delicately handled. I truly enjoyed this book.
