Outstanding work of Fiction. If your here, and found the book - get it. It's worth the price of admission & one heck of a ride - especially going all the way through book two: Blue Hope as I just did. The author did an outstanding job so please don't be put off by some of the negative reviews, as every fiction book has an oddity here or there. Its fiction, pure and simple; with incredible vision and scope, excellently written, with heart stopping plot twists, great character development, and especially, without potatoes.Thank you Mr.Dreese for the journey, I sure hope you keep em' coming.

Damn you! Oh, and thank you! Few authors have entertained as you have and you have. I don't know who sits in Little Tuttle, and I'm not sure who it is I'm hoping for. I will say this though I've been twisted so many times over this weekend read I'm not ready to find out yet. What a great read! For a first attempt I can only say wow, thanks, and MORE!
So this is a 1st effort ? Wow, if JD and his team can start at this level of accomplishment , then we are going to be rewarded for many years to come. The story has it all without being too heavy in any one area of military, heart throb, nerdy science area, and still postulates questions in the readers mind of anticipation for the next chapter, book ...or ?
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I think I started reading it and then put it aside, as it didn't attract me with all the planning about the Mars trip and didn't much like man who initiated the whole trip to Mars and invited himself along. etc. Course didn't like one or so of the other characters either but I got used to them I guess.
Concentrated on the story and how it unfolded. I had a feeling something would go wrong and of course it did but not like I expected it o happen. Now I am hooked and I have to read the next book and any others that follow.
The story took hold of me when they finally began the actual jaunt to Mars from the Space Station. Quite a few surprises along the way and once they arrived. I don't want to tell the whole story here. That is for you folks who read this to find out for yourself and enjoy the ride... It is a bumpy one.. You will be hooked as well.
A dedicated and gifted writer who has a great deal of technical knowledge that he presents in an exciting and thought-provoking manner. There were some very clever ideas and plot twists that kept me reading. As the author of my recently published "The Mars Experiment" and having done a great deal of research for my own book I can well appreciate the time and trouble that John Dreese took in the writing of this excellent science fiction story. I recommend it heartily. It's a great read!
It was a riviting book to read. Good tech the space ideas & great visual wording for Mars & the pyramid writings. Could "see" the characters & the interactions. Was totally surprised with Keller & Adams actions & then Molly but understood underlying emotional current in stressful situations. The excitement for the "mission" was apparent throughout yet greed was there too. A great mix. Looking foward to the Blue Hope & intrig for who is returning?
Although "Red Hope" gets off to somewhat of a slow beginning, I hung in there and was glad I did. The author has a great and detailed plan for what it would take to get men to Mars and back. Although most of us, especially me, do not know very much about when or if there ever was life on Mars and could Mars support life today, the author has come up with some pretty ingenious and creative answers to these questions. When the book ends, on the very last page, the author leaves us with a clue about one of the astronauts which made me go back and quickly scan the book to see if I could find the answer. I found half the answer and am eagerly awaiting the publication of his follow-up novel to "Red Hope" to find the rest of the answer. It's a pretty good mystery novel, well worth the reading. Who knows, it might even help us in our attempts to get tot Mars!
This was such an edge of the seat ride and once I started it, I had to keep going. A lengthy but necessary character build-up at the begining turned into a flight to Mars. The characters were great and believable so I really felt bad (or good) when something happened to them. I won't disclose any of the good stuff. Well, actually all of it was the good stuff. Once they landed, it was non-stop until the end. Read this one.
